Jean-Michel Wilmotte, Corinne Maironi, Mayor of Aime, and Gérard Brémond, President of Pierre & Vacances, announced, on Octobre 26th 2016 during the Press conference, the creation of new ski resort concept in La Plagne Aime 2000.
According to the "contemporary graft", this project, inspired by the mountainous landscape, enters into dialogue with 45 years old buildings, among them the "liner" designed by the French architect Michel Bezançon.
Like a mountain village, the project is made of a harmonious set of buildings, ringed of roofs at the scale of the "paquebot" and made with solid wooden, a low carbon, organically sourced and entirely recyclable material.
An exciting new plan has been announced this week, which will see a complete transformation of Aime 2000 over the next four years.
The plans were initially brought to light in 2011 and a global competition to find the best developers and town planners for the resort was launched. In a press conference in Paris this week, the winners of that contest were announced as Pierre & Vacances and Wilmotte & Associes who have some ambitious ideas in the pipelines.
The second phase will consist of a group of seven small wood and glass buildings each placed on a large stone base. Within these buildings will be 370 apartments of varying sizes branded under the Pierre & Vacances Famille category, a large public terrace and shopping centre. A new water park and leisure centre will also be built, which will form the centre of the overall development. This will have a large indoor/outdoor swimming pool, lazy river, a large outside terrace, a bowling alley, restaurant and bar.
The third phase will see a new 160 room hotel built "Hotel Aime Jaunes" which will have its own shops, a restaurant, relaxation area and gym, spa and swimming pool. The hotel will comprise of 4 separate buildings connected with internal links. The second and third phases of build are scheduled to be completed by Christmas 2020.
Project stats:
- Pierre & Vacances have invested €220 million into the project, which will see a complete transformation of this part of La Plagne
- In total there will be an additional 2,450 beds made available to visitors, spread over a site of 50,000 m2
- The new waterpark will be 2,600 m2
- 1,800 m2 of new shopping spaces will be created
- 1,900 m2 of leisure space will be created
- A new childcare area will also be built as well as an interactive art gallery
- The roof tops of the new hotel will mirror the outline of the existing buildings in Aime 2000
- 1,300 covered parking spaces and 100 exterior parking spaces will be made available
